11-year-old Girl Killed in Accidental Shooting

Amya Frazier

Amya Frazier, age 11, went over to her cousins’ house in Columbus, Ohio to play video game, and got shot during a “non-intentional shooting between family members.” She was seriously injured and died several days later.

Amya’s mother described her daughter as fun and outgoing, and struggles to explain the death to her other daughters. “They try to understand, but they’re so young that I don’t think they do. My oldest understands, but my youngest doesn’t; she keeps asking me where she’s been.”

The case is still being investigated, and the prosecutor’s office indicated that charges may be filed. “I would have never sent my child over there to her uncle’s house if I thought it wasn’t safe, and I thought it would be safe.” said the girl’s mother.
