Four-year-old Girl Killed in Accidental Shooting

The circumstances of the shooting death of four-year-old Hayzel Jones in Afton, Oklahoma, is under investigation. She was shot in the chest with a handgun, and was taken to an area hospital when weather prevented her from being flown to a trauma center.

Her obituary said that Hayzel, affectionately called Hayzel-Bug, loved animals and the color purple. The school superintendent sent out a message to the community; counselors would be available to offer students support, as they process the tragic death of the preschooler.
