Boy Accidentally Shoots Himself Causing School Lockdown
In Sioux Falls, South Dakota, a letter to parents from the local high school that issued a shelter-in-place order read, “an elementary student was handling a firearm when it accidentally discharged, causing a self-inflicted, non-life-threatening injury.” The shooting happened in a neighborhood near two schools, and investigators found a backpack on someone’s front lawn that contained a gun wrapped in a jacket. The student’s name and condition were not reported, as police try to determine the circumstances of the shooting and how the boy accessed the gun.
