Woman Wounded by Rifle Discharge
In Hinesville, Georgia, a woman was injured after a rifle in the trunk of a vehicle unintentionally discharged. Two construction workers discovered the rifle in the trunk while on a job that had a strict policy about unregistered firearms. The girlfriend of one of the workers arrived to take the weapon away. When the man attempted to remove it from the trunk, the rifle fired, striking the woman in the side of the head. She is currently in the ICU at the hospital. Later, when an officer also tried to remove the rifle it fired again; a cord had wrapped around the trigger, causing it to discharge whenever it was picked up. The construction worker was charged with reckless endangerment.
