One Person Dead, One Wounded, in Gun Accidents Today

In Waynesburg, Kentucky, 67-year-old Daniel Wilson was scouting wildlife on family property, when he was fatally shot by a teenager taking part in a youth hunt with his father. The boy mistook Wilson for a deer. The gunshot severed a main artery in Wilson’s leg, leading to his death from severe blood loss. The department of fish and wildlife and the sheriff’s office are investigating.

And in Anderson County, South Carolina, a hunter was injured after being struck by a stray bullet. Investigators determined that the accident was caused when a relative of the victim was target shooting on an adjacent property without a proper backstop. The victim is recovering and declined to press charges.
