Nine-year-old Shoots Self in Head with Loaded Glock

While playing with a friend in the basement of a home in Lancaster, Ohio, a nine-year-old boy accidentally shot himself in the head with a gun reportedly found there. He was airlifted to the hospital and remains in critical condition. The boy’s uncle and grandparents were in the home at the time of the shooting. In a call to 911, the uncle said he didn’t know the gun was loaded and didn’t know a gun was in the home. Police records show that a Glock semi-automatic handgun was found in a hallway, and investigators say the friend told them he moved it there.

It is unclear how the children accessed the gun. “The dad said the gun is always in the safe, so how did the gun get out in the first place?” said a neighbor. “Two, the bullets are never with the gun. There’s just got to be another part to this story.” Police continue to investigate.
