Three-year-old Finds Gun and Fatally Shoots Father

In Lincoln, Alabama, a three-year-old child is believed to have fired a gun that killed Gary Wayne Curry Jr., the child’s 37-year-old father. Curry was found unresponsive in the home by emergency personnel, and pronounced dead at the scene. “We are not sure if the child was playing with the firearm, or if the child picked [up] the firearm and dropped it,” said the police chief. He added that other people were in the home at the time, and it is unclear if “…somebody in the house had left the firearm out or hadn’t secured it…” There is a continuing investigation into the accident, but no charges will be filed.
