16-year-old Boy Killed in One of Two Gun Accidents in California

In Desert Hot Springs, California, a 16-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene from an apparently accidental self-inflicted gunshot. No other information about the shooting was reported, but officials continue to investigate.

And at City Hall East in Los Angeles, California, an employee with the police department, received a graze wound after his personal weapon accidentally discharged. A department spokesperson described the man as “…a non-sworn security services division employee.” Guards sit in the lobby checking credentials of visitors, and the man was at a desk when the gun discharged. “There were no serious injuries and the matter is being handled by our Internal Affairs investigators,” said the spokesperson.
