Several People Grazed by Bullets in Shooting at Pool
Several people were injured after they most likely got caught in the gunfire during a shooting at a neighborhood Philadelphia, Pennsylvania recreation center pool. Police believe that Keon Kiah, age 17, was the shooter, and had returned with a gun and several other people to the rec center after an altercation across the street earlier in the day. A 16-year-old boy was critically injured after being shot in the face, and another 16-year-old boy was shot in the hip. In addition, three people were grazed by bullets; a 10-year-old boy, an 11-year-old girl, and 32-year-old male employee at the center.
“This was always a safe place for us as children to come. To find that we had almost 75 children in the pool. And individuals would come down here and fire when our children are here,” said the police commissioner. “There are boundaries. And if they don’t set the boundaries, then we will set them for them.”
Kiah has been charged with several firearm related offenses including illegal possession of a gun as a minor, and 14 counts of aggravated assault, simple assault and reckless endangerment. Police are still looking for others who may have been involved.
