Toddler and Teen Injured in Two Separate Gun Accidents
A three-year-old was injured in an accidental shooting in Ahoskie, North Carolina. The child’s condition was not reported. Trequan Lamar Lassiter, age 20, was charged with storing a firearm accessible to a minor and carrying a concealed weapon. There is an ongoing investigation.
And in Mobile, Alabama, a 13-year-old boy accidentally shot himself in the thigh handling a gun that Demetrie Harriott, age 20, had brought into the residence while visiting. The boy was taken to the hospital for treatment. Harriott brought two guns with him; one was a 9 mm pistol that had been reported stolen. He was charged with receiving stolen property. Officials continue to investigate and will determine if any other charges will be filed.
