Eight-year-old Shot and Killed by Cousin

Kylen Powell, age eight, was shot and killed by his 13-year-old cousin while they were staying at their grandmother’s house in Bainbridge, Georgia. A responding deputy declared Kylen dead at the scene, but was unable to find the gun used. An autopsy will be performed. The deputy coroner said, “[i] have worked so many of these, and it’s not easy and it never gets easier for us. The famil[ies] have to live with it, but the coroner’s do too.” 

There is an ongoing investigation into the shooting.
