Four-year-old Dead, 15-year-old Wounded, in Gun Accidents Today
In Lewiston, Maine, a four-year-old boy died after sustaining a gunshot wound to the head. An autopsy will be conducted, as state and local officials investigate to determine the circumstances of the child’s death.
The boys father lives in Nevada, and said that a relative told him that his son, Jasper, accidentally shot himself. He believes that whoever leaves a gun accessible to a child should be held accountable.
And in Lubbock, Texas, 18-year-old Jesus Gonzales accidentally shot a 15-year-old boy while disassembling a gun. Gonzales told detectives he was “trying to take the gun apart when he squeezed the trigger as required when taking this firearm apart.” The 15-year-old was seriously injured and taken to the hospital. No word on his condition. Gonzales was charged with aggravated assault causes serious bodily injury.
