Two Toddlers Injured in Gun Accidents
A child found a gun in the kitchen of a home in Hanford, California, and shot a three-year-old in the abdomen. The toddler was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Alexi Contreras, 29, left the scene with the gun, and was later arrested and charged with criminal storage of a firearm, destruction of evidence, prohibited person in possession of a firearm and child endangerment.
And in a parked vehicle outside a residence in Kalamazoo, Michigan, a three-year old girl shot herself after finding a gun in the center console. The child and a sibling were left alone when the accident occurred. She is expected to recover from her injuries. No arrests have been made, but the case is still under investigation.
