Driver Shot With Ghost Gun

In Waukegan, Illinois, the 20-year-old driver of a vehicle was unintentionally shot by Moshe M. Gills, age 20, who was sitting in the backseat. The victim was taken to the hospital, and is in stable condition following surgery for a gunshot wound to his back.

Three people were in the car with the victim, and they initially told police that someone shot at them. Police located a satchel in a nearby garbage can that contained two guns; one a 9mm Polymer 80 pistol with no serial number, and a cell phone. Gills admitted the ghost gun was his, and said he was holding the gun in one hand and his cell phone in the other, when he accidentally pulled the trigger to prevent the gun from falling. The discharge broke his cellphone and injured his hand. He has been charged with aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon and reckless discharge of a firearm.
