Five-year-old Girl Killed in Shootout; Her Twin Brother and Teen Injured

Five-year-old twins and an 18-year-old were hit by bullets, as two groups of people began shooting at each other in an apartment complex in Greenville, South Carolina. Brite Shalom Acoy, age 5, was killed, and her twin brother remains in critical condition; the 18-year-old is expected to recover. The sheriff believes the shooting was gang related. “Several thugs began shooting at each other…Such a senseless act that occurred today. It truly makes our blood boil.” 

So far, three people have been arrested. Shawnteza LaShay Sherman, 31, was charged with murder, attempted murder and criminal conspiracy. A 16-year-old was charged with murder, attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and another juvenile was charged with an unspecified weapons-related offense.
