Man Accidentally Shot by Friend with AK-47

In Magna, Utah, a 19-year-old man was injured when his friend accidentally shot him in the groin with his AK-47. Jason Wayne Angell, 35, and the victim were at Angell’s residence where they “began to drink alcohol and smoke week,” and Angell got out his new AK-47 to show the victim. The victim told police he urged Angell multiple times to make sure the gun was clear, and said that Angell didn’t seem to know how to use it; pointing the gun at him and shooting. According to Angell “the gun just went off,” telling detectives that “he always sleeps with his AK-47 in his bed in a case and that it makes him feel safer.” There were two children in the home at the time of the incident. Angell has been charged on multiple counts including investigation of aggravated assault resulting in serious injury, and illegal discharge of a firearm causing injury.

And a 22-year-old man in Cleveland, Ohio, was injured after he placed his rifle on a bed, then laid down on top of it later, causing the rifle to fire. Police interviewed him at the hospital, but there is no report on his condition.
