Three Children Injured in Unintentional Shootings
Two children were injured in separate accidental shootings in Memphis, Tennessee. In the early afternoon, a two-year-old boy shot himself with an unsecured gun and is in stable condition at the hospital. A man was detained by police. And later in the day, a stray bullet came into an apartment and struck a six-year-old. The child was taken to the hospital in non-critical condition.
“When we’re talking about young kids, particularly when we’re talking about young kids that get access to unsecured firearms or who are innocent bystanders in a shooting and are injured, they’re particularly saddening,” said a doctor who worked at the hospital where the children were treated.
And in Newport News, Virginia, a two-year-old sustained a life-threatening gunshot wound after being accidentally shot. Police did not discuss details about the case, as they continue to investigate.
