Two Men Injured in Gun Cleaning Accidents
In an apartment complex in San Angelo, Texas, Brandon Tignor, 25, accidentally shot another man in the legs while cleaning his gun. Tignor went to the apartment where the shooting took place with the victim and four other people. He told investigators that he removed the gun’s magazine in order to clean it. But there was still a round in the chamber that fired during the cleaning, striking the victim. Police recovered the black 9 mm Taurus handgun, and Tignor was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
And in Joliet, Illinois, a 21-year-old man is expected to survive after being accidentally shot in the foot by an acquaintance cleaning a gun. The acquaintance had a valid license to possess a firearm and is cooperating with police. The shooting is under review by the police department’s investigations division.
