Four-year-old Dies After Finding Gun Under Car Seat

Four-year-old Chosen Morris, from Davenport, Florida, found a gun under a car seat in the family’s vehicle, and shot himself in the head. He was airlifted to a hospital in Orlando, but died the following day.
The family was planning to go out for pizza that evening. “Chosen was excited about the family outing and detectives believe he entered the vehicle to wait for the rest of the family, when he found the handgun under the driver’s seat,” according to a police news release. Detectives recovered the Smith & Wesson M&P .40 caliber handgun.
Police have decided not to charge Chosen’s parents. “This is a tragic accident. As a father and grandfather, I can’t imagine what (the parents) are going through right now. Our prayers are certainly with the (family) as they endure this heartbreaking tragedy,” said the police chief in a statement.
