Two-year-old and Father Injured in Accidental Shooting With Pistol Found in Mother’s Purse

At home in Springfield, Ohio, a two-year-old boy was injured after he found his mother’s purse that contained a semi-automatic pistol. He brought the purse from the kitchen table to the living room; the gun accidentally discharged, striking him, and grazing his father who was lying on the floor. The child is in stable condition at the hospital; his father has non-life-threatening injuries. The prosecutor’s office will review the case, and determine if any charges will be filed.
