Hunting Accidents Today Result in One Dead, Two Wounded
In Kentwood, Louisiana, 61-year-old hunter, Roberto Garcia was killed after another hunter accidentally shot him. The hunter told investigators that Garcia was behind a deer he was shooting at, but blocked from his view by foliage. Garcia died at the scene; the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is investigating.
A deer hunter in Georgetown County, South Carolina was struck by stray shotgun pellets from another hunter. He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, as officials continue to investigate the incident.
While deer hunting in Hanover, New York, Nicholas Stalker, age 23, was shot in the leg when a muzzleloader carried by Bobby Ackerman, age 34, accidentally discharged. Ackerman was attempting to go down a steep hill when he fell and his gun fired, seriously injuring Stalker who was nearby.
