Children Injured in Four Separate Gun Accidents

A seven-year-old girl was taken to the hospital in critical condition after shooting herself in the thigh in Memphis, Tennessee. The girl was watching tv in a bedroom with her mother and two others, and found her father’s black Taurus 9mm gun “secured underneath the mattress.” Her father was arrested on unspecified charges.

A boy is recovering after he was accidentally shot by another boy in Mobile, Alabama. Police are investigating how the boy got the gun.

A 14-year-old boy in Manhattan, Kansas, accidentally shot himself and was taken to the hospital for treatment. Police filed a report of unlawful discharge of a firearm and criminal possession of weapons.

And at a party in Greenwood, South Carolina, a 17-year-old girl was shot by a 17-year-old boy playing around with a loaded gun. Her injuries were not life-threatening. The suspect was taken into custody under pending charges.
