Five year-old Girl Shot by Three-year-old Brother with Ghost Gun
While in the care of a babysitter in Washington, D.C., a three-year-old boy and his five-year-old sister were playing with an unsecured gun they found, that discharged, seriously injuring the girl. She was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to her upper body.
Their mother had left them at home to be watched by a family friend, 59-year-old Darrell Graham. Twenty-one year-old D’Jaunae McCrory Jackson, believed to be the victim’s sister, was also in the home at the time. Officers found the “ghost gun” and ammunition used in the shooting on a tv stand in Jackson’s bedroom. Graham and Jackson have been charged with first degree cruelty to children. Jackson also faces multiple charges related to the shooting, including criminally negligent storage of a firearm, and possession of unregistered firearm/unlawful possession of a firearm or destructive device.
