Thanksgiving Day Gun Accidents
A seven-year-old girl playing outside with her family in Four Oaks, North Carolina, was shot in the leg by a stray bullet. The girl was taken to the hospital and is scheduled for surgery. It was discovered that neighbors were target practicing, when the bullets hit several homes and the seven-year-old. Confronted by the girl’s uncle, who drove over to tell them to stop shooting and that a little girl had been hurt, “[t]hey told him that they didn’t know that there were houses back there.” No charges have been filed at this time, as the sheriff’s office continues to investigate.
Few details have been reported in a self-inflicted, accidental shooting in Chillicothe, Ohio, that sent one person to the hospital in stable condition. There is an ongoing investigation into the incident.
Also, in Port Vue, Pennsylvania, 16-year-old Jahwon Glenn was showing a black pistol to friends and his 14-year-old brother, when the gun unintentionally fired striking his brother in the leg. The boy is in stable condition at the hospital. The 14-year-old told police that Glenn said, “[i]’m sorry, I didn’t mean to.” Glenn has been charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and firearms charges.
