Two People Killed by Stray Bullets, Including Nine-year-old Boy

At an apartment complex in Florida City, Florida, nine-year-old Antavious Scott, was shot and killed while outside with friends. Police responding to reports of gunfire, arrived to find the wounded Antavoius, known to his family as “TayTay.” He was airlifted to the hospital where he died.

His death was mourned by the whole community. “The impact to our family is [severe] and leaves a tear in our hearts as we mourn our gentle little giant lost,” said his grandmother on her GoFundMe page. Local police departments joined on Facebook to offer $5,000 to anyone offering information leading to an arrest.

And in Austin, Texas, 46-year-old Jessica Shaw, was shot and killed when a bullet from the apartment next door came through the wall. Noah Mata, age 36, was apparently trying to take a gun away from another man when it discharged, striking Shaw in the adjoining unit. He was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery.
