Nurse is Killed in One of Two Texas Hunting Accidents
In Corpus Christi, Texas, investigators say that a 23-year-old hunter, Hailey Jasso, was killed by an accidental discharge from her father’s gun. They had been out hunting, and were walking back to camp when the accident happened. Jasso was a registered nurse, honored by multiple DAISY awards that recognized the exceptional care she gave her patients. The accident was the first hunting-related death this season in Texas. The Texas Rangers are investigating.
And in Tyler, Texas, Jason “Sundance” Head, accidentally shot himself in the stomach while hunting on his ranch. Head was a winner on the television reality show “The Voice.” According to a Facebook post, “[h]e was out of the vehicle reaching in to grab his .22. When he grabbed it, the .22 came out of its holster and hit the exterior of the Jeep just right and went off.” He was airlifted to the hospital and has since been released.
