Florida Toddler Finds Gun and Shoots and Kills Himself
A boy identified only as “Josiah,” age 2, of Clewiston, Florida, found a gun in his home and shot and killed himself. Police determined that the gun belonged to someone who lived in the home and continue to investigate. According to the report, Josiah was “a bubbly boy, full of energy.”
A Detroit, Michigan three-year-old found his father’s handgun and fired it, striking himself in the stomach, according to the local prosecutor. The boy’s father, Richard Williams was charged with a violation of Michigan’s safe storage law. “Another day. Another child injured with a loaded, unsecured gun,” a Prosecutor wrote. “Tomorrow it (will) be another if we don’t universally pay attention and take this issue seriously. These are our children — and if we cannot unite for them who will we unite for?”
Also in Michigan, this time in Prairie Ronde Township, a man was doing some work on the roof of a home when he was struck by a round fired by a neighbor, who was firing at targets. His injuries are not life-threatening.
