Child Killed, and School Resource Officer Injured, in Gun Accidents Today
Two children were playing with an unsecured gun in the master bedroom of a home in Rock Hill, South Carolina, when one of them was fatally shot. It was determined that 39-year-old Kunle Lawal Laguda Jr. left the gun unattended in a place where the children could access it. He has been charged with unlawful neglect of a child, and possession of a firearm for a person convicted of certain crimes.
And just before a football game at the high school in Marble Falls, Texas, a resource officer shot himself in the leg when his gun accidentally discharged. The shooting occurred near the visitor parking area, and three male students came to the officer’s aid until first responders arrived. The officer was airlifted to the hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.
