One Person Dead, Two Wounded, in Unintentional Shootings Today

When first responders arrived at a home in Royse City, Texas, they found 18-year-old Alexander Villegas conscious, with a gunshot wound to his stomach. He told police he was handling a firearm when it unintentionally discharged. He was taken to the hospital where he later died. Police are investigating the incident.

In Hopewell, Virginia, a man was trying to shoot a dog, but the gunfire accidentally struck a woman in the leg. The shooter fled before police came, and the woman was treated at the scene with a non-life-threatening injury. Police are trying to find the suspect.

And in Huntsville, Alabama, a university student accidentally shot themself in a vehicle in a campus parking lot. The student was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No other information has been reported.
