Two-year-old Shoots Mother’s Boyfriend, and Teen Accidentally Shoots Younger Cousin

A two-year-old in a home in Petersburg, Virginia, shot their mother’s boyfriend with a handgun the man had placed on a chair near the child. The man was airlifted to the hospital in critical condition from a single gunshot wound. 

Also, in Port Royal, South Carolina, a 12-year-old girl was taken to the hospital after her 15-year-old cousin unintentionally shot her in the chest with a 9mm pistol. She remains in stable condition. Two firearms were recovered during the investigation, as police try to determine who owned the gun. The 15-year-old cousin has been petitioned to family court for possession of a firearm by a person under 18.
