Unintentional Shootings Wound Two People

In Chicago, Illinois, a 12-year-old boy was taken to the hospital in critical condition after being unintentionally shot by an 18-year-old relative. The boy had multiple gunshot wounds, including to his chest, and was later upgraded to stable condition. According to police, the 18-year-old was “playing with a gun that had a switch on it,” and witnesses said the teen indicated that the gun was not loaded, before he aimed it at the boy. He fled the scene after the shooting, and detectives continue to investigate.

The man suffered a gunshot wound to his leg that is not life-threatening, A 16-year-old has been arrested and charged with negligent injury and possession of a handgun by a juvenile. Officials continue to investigate.
