Group of Friends Playing with Gun; 16-year-old is Killed
In an Indianapolis, Indiana home, 16-year-old Nathaniel Labissiere was unintentionally shot and killed by his friend, 18-year-old Jakari Bibbs. The two teens and another friend were playing around with a .22 caliber Glock 44 while another person took photos.
During the investigation, Bibbs told detectives he pointed the gun at Labissiere and pulled the trigger and “was surprised the gun fired because he thought he had unloaded it.” A witness told police, “[t]hey removed the magazine from the gun and turned the magazine around and re-inserted it. This made the gun look like it had an extended magazine.” Other witnesses in the home told police the group got the gun from the purse of one of their mothers. Bibbs was arrested and charged with reckless homicide, but the prosecutor’s office will determine final charges.
