Two Children Unintentionally Shot; Three-year-old Boy is Killed

In the bedroom of a home in Hammond, Louisiana, a three-year-old boy found his father’s unsecured gun and fatally shot himself. The gun was between a mattress and box spring that was easily reached by the boy. So far no charges have been filed against the father, but the investigation continues. Today is the second incident in three days in which a toddler shot and killed themself with a gun found in their home.

Also in the bedroom of a home, this time in Toledo, Ohio, two children were playing with a gun when one accidentally shot the other in the leg. They were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injures. Few details have been reported, and it’s unclear how the children found the gun.
