11-year-old Girl Allegedly Shot and Killed by Younger Brother

Taliyah Clarke

In Miami, Florida, 11-year-old Taliyah Clarke was with her nine-year-old brother in their bedroom, when she suffered a gunshot wound to her chest, and later died at the hospital. Detectives found a .40 caliber silver casing on the floor of the children’s room near a dog cage, and a Glock .40 caliber gun wrapped up and placed on top of the cage. Prosecutors allege that her brother unintentionally shot her. Three adults were home at the time of the shooting, her father, her paternal grandmother, and her father’s girlfriend. All three were arrested and each faces a charge of aggravated manslaughter of a child.

“…She just had a pure soul, such a sweetheart—sweet, sweet baby,” said Taliyah’s mother. A neighbor will remember Taliyah as she saw her the morning before the incident. “I was sitting on the front porch and the little girl come and spoke to me and said, ‘How are you doing madam?’ I was so happy to see them as I do every morning.”
