Two Children are Victims of Unintended Shootings; One Shot Himself in the Head

An eight-year-old boy in Peoria, Illinois was rushed to the hospital after shooting himself in the head.  His injuries are considered life-threatening.  The boy’s father, Micah D. Stitts, left a gun unattended when several children were home and was charged with a misdemeanor.

In Kirksville, Missouri, a nine-year-old girl was struck in the hand by an apparent stray bullet at a local shooting range.  The range has three sets of targets separated by large dirt berms.  The report does not explain why the nine-year-old was at the range.
