Three People Wounded in Accidental Shootings
In a farm field in Stone Creek, Ohio, a 12-year-old boy was wounded when a rifle unintentionally discharged after falling off the ATV he was riding. The .22 caliber rimfire bolt-action single-shot rifle, fired a round into the boy’s chest after hitting the ground. He was airlifted to the hospital for treatment, as officials continue to investigate the shooting.
During a traffic stop in Evansville, Indiana, 18-year-old Michael Johnson, unintentionally shot himself in the arm. He struggled with two officers while exiting the vehicle, when the Glock in his possession fired. It was later determined that the gun was stolen, and Johnson has been charged with firearm theft, criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, and resisting law enforcement with a deadly weapon.
And while cleaning his gun in Madison, Wisconsin, a 21-year-old man accidentally shot himself. He was taken to the hospital, and received a citation for discharging a firearm within city limits.
