Accidents with Rifle and Sawed-off Shotgun Kill Two People
A group of people were socializing in Irving, Texas, when a rifle that Adrien Mendieta, 18, was handling unintentional discharged killed his friend, 20-year-old Aiden Turner. The rifle belonged to one of the witnesses and everyone on the scene cooperated with police. Mendieta was charge with murder and police continue to investigate.
And in Brooklyn, New York, the son of a firefighter, 14-year-old Jasai Guy, was accidentally shot and killed by his 12-year-old cousin. Jasai was shot in the chest with a sawed off Mossberg model 518 12-gauge shotgun. Police believe the illegally altered shotgun belonged to Jasai’s father. The cousin who has not been identified because he is a minor was charged with criminally negligent homicide and criminal possession of a weapon. “I shot my cousin by accident, I don’t want him to die,” said the 12-year-old.
