Three Children Injured in Gun Accidents
An 11-year-old boy was lying on the floor in his Atlantic City, New Jersey home, when he was struck by a stray bullet from gunfire outside. Two women were shooting at people they had an argument with earlier, and both of them, Yanirah Davis, 22, and Yontay Cooper, 33, were charged with multiple counts of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and endangering the welfare of a child.
In St. Paul, Minnesota, a 1-year-old boy was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to his hand. Police believe it was an accident, but are continuing to investigate.
And, a 4-year-old shot a 2-year-old in a home in Port Charlotte, Florida. The toddler sustained a non-life-threatening injury and was taken to the hospital. A parent was at home during the incident, and investigators are trying to determine how the child got the gun and whether any charges will be filed.
