One Child Injured and Another Kills His Aunt

In New Orleans, Louisiana, a two-year old was shot in the leg under circumstances that have not been fully reported. The toddler was driven to the hospital in a personal vehicle and child abuse detectives are investigating. 

And in a case that raises complex questions of intent and culpability, an Ocoee, Florida, 11-year-old will be charged with homicide after reportedly shooting his 55-year-old aunt, Sandra Pape King, who was his caregiver.  The boy’s cousin told the court, “[h]e doesn’t understand what’s going on. I don’t even think he knows he killed her.”  No motive for the shooting has been reported.

“He seemed like any other child, you know. You see, he had a little tantrum here and there. I figure that was normal for a kid his age, …. I have two daughters his age, so I didn’t think nothing of it,” a neighbor told a reporter.
