Three Children Injured in Gun Accidents, Including a 2-year-old
A 2-year-old in Zephyrhills, Florida, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after he shot himself with an unsecured gun. Few details have been reported, but there is an ongoing investigation.
In Spring, Texas, a 7-year-old boy gained access to a loaded gun and shot himself in the foot. Little information has been reported, and officials will consider filing charges.
And in Winston Salem, North Carolina, a female high school student sustained minor injuries from shrapnel when a gun in a juvenile’s backpack unintentionally discharged. The juvenile who brought the gun that fired has been charged with bringing a weapon to school. A spokesman from the sheriff’s office noted that the school’s metal detectors were not in use on the day of the shooting. There is an ongoing investigation.
