One Dead, Four Injured in Unintentional Shootings
In Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Dcorius Wilkins, 19, died after he was accidentally shot during a car crash. Few details have been reported about the incident, as officials continue to investigate.
In Wichita, Kansas, a man and woman, both in their 20s, were shot when the man mishandled a gun, and unintentionally shot himself and the woman. They were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
After stealing property from a store in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, 18-year-old Anthony Daushaun Johnson accidentally shot a 16-year-old girl, who was with him, in the leg. She was treated at the hospital and released. Johnson fled the scene after the shooting, but was later found by police with the stolen goods, and a semi-automatic pistol in his coat pocket. He admitted to unintentionally shooting the girl, and has been charged on multiple counts related to the robbery and the shooting.
And a girl taking a training class at a gun range in Obetz, Ohio, was shooting with her non-dominant hand, and accidentally shot herself in her dominant hand. She was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover. No other details were reported.
