One Person Dead, Two Critically Injured in Gun Accidents
In Mooresville, North Carolina, Jody Allen Leazer, 55, was fatally shot in the arm when he and another man were moving a gun into a car. They were cleaning out a home, and as they were putting the gun into the car, it unintentionally discharged. Leazer died from his injuries at the hospital. No one has been charged.
An 11-year-old in Whatcom County, Washington, is in intensive care after being unintentionally shot by their 13-year-old sibling. The sheriff’s office has not released information about how the child got the gun or who it belonged to.
And in St. Louis, Missouri, an 18-year-old man is in a vegetative state after being shot in the forehead. He and Timothy Lewis, 18, were in Lewis’s home smoking marijuana and handling guns, when Lewis’s gun accidentally went off striking the victim. Lewis has been charged with second-degree assault and armed criminal action.
