Three People Injured in Unintentional Shootings, Including a 6-year-old Shot by His Cousin
A 6-year-old in Columbus, Mississippi, picked up a loaded 9 mm handgun left on a counter, and shot his 6-year-old cousin in the head. The bullet grazed the side of the victim’s head, and he was treated and released from the hospital. Police determined that the victim’s father had left his gun unsecured when his nephew found it. They are still investigating and charges may be filed.
Police arrived at a second-floor apartment in Clearfield, Pennsylvania, to find Brandon Hutson with a gunshot wound to his leg. He first told police that someone shot him, but later admitted that he shot himself. It was also discovered that the bullet had traveled to the apartment upstairs. Guns were seized at Hutson’s apartment, and police expect to charge him on multiple counts.
And in a home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, a woman was shot in the stomach and taken to the hospital in serious condition. Another woman was handling the gun when it unintentionally fired. No other information was reported.
