IRS Agent Unintentionally Shot and Killed by Fellow Agent; and in Other Gun Accidents Today, Two Children and One Adult are Injured

IRS Special Agent Patrick Bauer, 47, was accidentally shot and killed by another agent during a training exercise in Phoenix, Arizona. The incident happened at a federal gun range that was being utilized by multiple agencies at the time. According to the IRS, special agents are the only employees of the IRS that carry guns and conduct criminal investigations. The shooting is being investigated with no additional details available.

A 4-year-old child was airlifted to the hospital after being accidentally shot in the leg in Lenoir, North Carolina. Investigators said the child did not shoot himself and is expected to be OK. The sheriff’s office continues to investigate what led up the shooting and its unclear if anyone will be charged.

In Chicago, Illinois, a 7-year-old boy was handling a gun when he accidentally shot himself in the hand. He was taken to the hospital in good condition. It is unclear how the boy gained access to the gun or who owned it. Police recovered two firearms at the scene as detectives continue to investigate.

And a man in Le Roy, West Virginia, accidentally shot himself in the back. He is expected to make a full recovery. There is no other information available at this time.
