Two Dead and One Wounded in Shooting Accidents
Maden Thapa, a 30-year-old Columbus, Ohio man, was unintentionally killed in his truck by another man who was handling a gun. According to the report, 25-year-old Lok Nath Acharya, had been alerted to the presence of the gun in a bathroom at a local newsstand. He removed the gun, took it to Thapa’s truck and accidentally shot Thapa while he was driving. The truck crashed at a nearby intersection and Acharya has been charged with reckless homicide.
A 17-year-old Idaho Falls, Idaho boy was struck and killed when another juvenile mishandled a handgun in a local home. Police have not identified either child based on privacy concerns.
Finally, a Honolulu, Hawaii police recruit accidentally shot himself in the leg during a training exercise at a local gun range. According to the police department, “[h]e sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital for further treatment. No one else was injured.”
