Two 4-year-old Girls: One is Shot and Killed by a 5-year-old Sibling and the Other Shoots Herself
Deor Nita, a 4-year-old girl in Indianapolis, Indiana, was shot and killed by her 5-year-old sibling. Two other siblings were with them when the gun they were playing with unintentionally discharged. It is unclear who owns the gun and how the children found it. The police chief urged owners to get gun locks, reminding them that they are given away at the police station. “People carry guns without safety devices…[t]hey have no respect for firearms and just the massive power they have and what they can do to people,” she said.
And a 4-year-old girl in Fultondale, Alabama is in stable condition after finding a loaded gun at home and accidentally shooting herself in the leg. Police determined that the shooting was a result of the reckless action of the girl’s 21-year-old brother who shares a bedroom with his sister. He fled the scene and is wanted on felony charges of assault and unlawful possession of marijuana.
