Two People Killed in Gun Accidents, Including a Three-year-old

Jaquan Askew, 20, a Portsmouth, Virginia man, was arrested after his 3-year-old child gained access to a loaded firearm at home.  The boy shot and killed himself.  Askew said that while he was using the bathroom, he heard a gunshot coming from his son’s bedroom. Court documents state, “based off this investigation, this firearm was left loaded and unattended with disregard for human life.”

Police have concluded that the gun death of a person in Lafayette, Louisiana resulted from a gun cleaning accident. No arrests have been made, but there is an ongoing investigation.
