Three Gun Accidents in Cars Leave One Dead and Two Wounded
In Desloge, Missouri, Kyle Walters, 25, was arrested after his 9mm pistol accidentally discharged in the back seat of a vehicle while waiting for food ordered at the local Jack in the Box. The round passed through the seat and struck and killed the driver of the vehicle, Scott Jones, age 22. Walters was charged with first degree manslaughter.
In Odessa, Texas, an unidentified man accidentally shot himself while in the parking lot of the Jaguars Night Club. His injuries are not considered life threatening.
And in Lakeland, Florida, an 11-year-old girl was unintentionally shot by an 13-year-old boy while in a vehicle in the parking lot of the Salvation Army building. The girl was taken to the hospital with a non-life-threatening wound to her upper leg. Investigators said the boy was placing a 9mm handgun in his waistband. While doing so, the gun was accidentally discharged and the bullet struck the 11-year-old girl, who was sitting next to him. The 13-year-old was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a delinquent, carrying a concealed firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm by a person under 18 and culpable negligence.
