Teenage Hero Accidentally Shot and Killed During Live Stream on Instagram
Anthony Alexander, 17, of Collingdale, Pennsylvania was shot and killed in a gun accident that occurred while a group of kids were live streaming on Instagram. Alexander had recently learned he was going to be awarded a civilian award from the Congressional Medal of Honor society this spring for saving three children from drowning in icy water at a local pond last February. He had aspired to join the military.
Diamire Hickman, a sixteen-year-old, turned himself in on the day following the shooting (after initially fleeing the scene) and is now being charged with third degree murder. “Why were these teenage children, why were they able to get these hands on these guns?” said the District Attorney.
“Know where your children are and what they’re doing in this world, because life is short,” said Alexander’s father. “And we are responsible,” his mother added.
