Two men were injured while attending a wine-tasting event at a restaurant in Miami, Florida. One of the men, a homeland security officer, dropped a gun during the event. The gun fired when it hit the floor and the round passed both through the officer’s leg and the leg of a friend. Neither man suffered life-threatening injuries.
In a similar incident in Phoenix, Arizona, a woman dropped a gun from her purse while with a friend in the parking lot of a local mall. The gun discharged and struck the other woman in the hand.
Finally, In Gorham, New Hampshire, Tristan Byrd, 23, was target shooting with family members in a sandpit. A gun that he was carrying in a jacket pocket fired and struck him in a “lower extremity.” He suffered serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.
